Another successful Florida gulf water ring revovery. What a difference a day makes. While enjoying the afternoon in the warm gulf water on his annual extended family vacation, Jim (who’se name has been changed so as to provide anonymity) suddenly noticed his deceased mother’s silver ring slip off his finger. A big shout out to Tony Schell who assisted in the recovery, 3 hours of searching uncovered the needle in the haystack. The ring had actually moved about 75 yards in 24 hours. Lost Gold Bracelet Found under Boat Dock

[July 11, 2019 – Ft. Myers] While helping to secure a boat cover, a rope caught on Wilma’s gold bracelet tugging it off her wrist and into the water adjacent the dock.  Her husband also heard it go “kerplunk” on the dock and splash as it disappeared into the murky water.   Remember, “It’s only lost until you call!”

You’ve probably heard the statement “don’t try this at home”….well, getting into the water without stirring up the mud, getting cut by the barnacles or oyster shells,  or “ringing the dinner” bell by needless splashing were just some of the first obstacles.  Water turbidity and clarity was poor at best, and the tide made it difficult to remain in place.  Standing on nearly 2 feet of soft mud in nearly 5 feet of water, the search began – listening to all the miscellaneous sounds given off by the rusty iron, fishing tackle, weights and miscellaneous metal trash.  But, it was the recovery that turned out to be most challenging.    It took nearly 2 hours to get the target into the scoop.  Well, the rest is now history and the story continues – the bracelet being where it belongs, back on Wilma’s wrist.  Thanks be to God!

Lost Ring Found & Returned by Metal Detector Mark Greul in Naples Florida

[June 25, 2019 – Naples, Florida]  “Es war mal wieder eine wunder schōne Urlaubszeit in Florida.  Unsere verlorene Ringe wurden gefunden.”  While on vacation from Germany and spending a day at the beach with her husband, Juliane suddenly noticed her gold ring slip off her finger and disappear in the surf.  With increasing wind and waves crashing from an incoming thunderstorm they ended their search, declaring the ring forever lost.  That was Wednesday – on the following Monday – that’s 5 days later – I received the call.  After getting fairly precise location information and spending nearly 4 hours searching the general area – no luck.  Returning to the same spot and preparing to considerably expand the search area the ring was found deep in the sand, having moved nearly 100 yards from the point of loss.

Lost Rings while Swimming at Beach in Marco Island, Florida – found and returned by Metal Detector

[June 7, 2019 – Marco Island, Florida] While vacationing with family and spending the day at the beach, Beth suddenly noticed that her two gold rings were missing as she was exiting the water.  Neither ring had been off her finger in over 17 years, one being her wedding ring and the other given by her now deceased grandmother.  As the family frantically searched their gear, clothing and beach bags, an adjacent tourist searched for help on his smart phone.  Well, the rest is now history – the smiles and hugs of joy and thanksgiving say it all – “prayers answered and thank God” for what was once lost has been found.
